FOTO Friday-Feb 27th

My tip today is :

DON'T FORGET YOUR CAMERA!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

haha!

There's been sooo many times I've wished I remembered my camera, but have missed some great photo ops because it was left home on the counter!

You know what the car companies need to do? Have a recording in your vehicle, when you turn on the car, a friendly voice will ask you "Did you remember your camera?"

I have my camera packed and ready for the crop my sisters and I are going to this weekend! Wahoo!!!

Text Thursday! Wonderful prompts, mag sorting/turfing ideas & a RAK winner!

Today I'd like to share some fun journaling idea generators (also called "prompts") with you! See #1-#5.

Additionally, I have an article linked here which you might find useful in terms of getting rid of old mags after gleaning ALL the info you can from them. How?? Read #6

And for lucky #7: how to Archive your Christmas cards! !

Here are a FEW good links you can enjoy. There are MANY on the web, so if you find one, pls share it with us in "Comments" or as a link on your Blog.

1. Time Capsule- click on a year and see lists of top 10 songs, top 10 movies, what was in (and out!), sports winners, events, etc... A HANDY site.

2. Angie Pedersen has a list of helpful articles here. She encourages us to read them to help add meaning to our journaling.

3. Sad quotations (sad words, sad films, sad songs...) Sniff! Unusual and yet handy!

4. BellaOnline's Scrapbooking Editor, Michelle McVaney, gives us a list of GREAT journaling and title articles, full of ideas.

5. A list of ideas for journal prompts/interview questions for you if you're creating an album in tribute to someone special!

6. Too many Scrappy mags taking up physical and mental space? Why not create an Inspiration Journal? Then: simply discard what is not needed. (In your recycling programme of course! LOL)

7. Here's a goodie about saving and archiving your Christmas/holiday season cards! Still in an accessible manner-- and yet enable you to get rid of cards that may still bee cluttering up your space, This references an older article by none other than Scrapjazz' Andrea Steed! LMK what you think!

Feel free to post a link on YOUR blog: show us what links you've found in terms of "text" and would like to share with us here at Sisterhood of Scrap!

WEB Wednesday - Feb 25/09

Tomorrow I'm flying to Newfoundland to spend the weekend with 2 of my actual sisters. We are going to enjoy a crop together, and I'm really looking forward to it! It's the first time ever for us to scrap together for the whole weekend.

I know you all might not get a chance to do an actual crop this weekend with your scrappy sisters, but today I thought I'd share some links to so online crops that are happening this weekend, around the web.

2 Gals Scrappin is having an "I got the music in me" crop. Sounds like fun!

Crop Addict is celebrating it's THIRD anniversary and having a crop for the party! WOW! And there's over $2000.00 in prizes to give away!

Dixie Pieces is having it's second annual "Beat the Winter Blues" crop. For digital and paper scrappers.

I hope you all have a fun weekend of scrapping with your cyber sisters! And please feel free to add any other crops, you might know of, in the comments.

TEACHING Tuesday - Feb 24th

Happy Shrove Tuesday :-) Are pancakes on your menu today? We had them for breakfast. Delicious! You can see my recipe on my cooking blog.
~~~~~~~
I wanted to show you an "Inspiration Jar" that I made. This is going to be one of the prizes this weekend at our scrapbook retreat.
I started with a square dollar store jar/with lid.
Measured the top and cut out pp to fit. I rounded the corners also.
I used sticky tape from Stampin' Up to adhere the top paper. (Thanks, Deanne! This tape is awesome!)
I decorated the top with some lettering. Added some BG stickers and a bit of Stickles.
Finished it off with some lace around the lid and another sticker on the jar.
I printed off a list of challenges and cut them into strips. Added them to the jar and can be pulled out whenever your mojo needs a jumpstart :-)
Note: You can look through our blog for challenge ideas.
Do you have an ispiriation jar? We'd love to see it!
SISTER Sunday - Feb 22nd
More about Ali :-)
Have you ever taught a scrapbooking class? No, only online classes or tutorials.
Have you ever been published? Not my scrappin’! Have had a few online credits: in Becky Fleck Cardmaps and in the Basic Grey Gallery. I’m a freelance writer and have been published by a Canadian magazine called Exceptional Family (I wrote the cover story, Summer 2007 issue) and in Australia—a school curriculum publication has used my work!! I am working on a book project with a scrappin’ focus… for pre-teens/teens.
What type of camera do you use? Kodak Easyshare C743
What would be your perfect day? Up early but no chores. Scrap all day listening to Sugarland and Kenny Chesney. Children are all safe, happily occupied with a fun activity and fed regular meals that I did not have to prep. Children ferried to where they need to go without me having to drive them. LOL! Supper: Chicken Fajitas, then no cleanup- just scrappin’. I would tuck the kids into bed at the appropriate time then scrap until 2 AM! LOL What a great question!
I can't imagine my life without ... Peter. He is my soulmate, & my best friend for always.
Thank Goodness it's Friday!
It's Friday (wahoo!) and that means it's "Foto Friday!" I couldn't resist sharing this photo of Ocean, our Border Collie, and Mitty, our teenaged kitten, crashed out on the floor together. Ocean was exhausted from his fun in the snow but he HAD to keep an eye on the kitten- he is a true "herder." LOL. And did you notice that they're wearing MATCHING outfits? How VERY fashionable!
AHEM: On to my (actual)Foto Friday post!
I have soooo been looking forward to sharing this with you today. Must be why I am up so early. Well, my coffee's gooooood.... **grin**
Here we go: An HP article all about ORGANIZING your digital photos.
Now, organizing is a passion of mine, I'm actually an organizing NUT! Yet, organizing photos seemed like a "dry" topic... that is--> until I READ this article!
Written in simple and easy to understand terms, it is a step by step, sensible way to organize your digital photos. The subtitle of the article is "Organize, edit, archive." That about says it all! In a few time-wise paragraphs, you'll read about how to consistently name photos for easier retrieval, create and organize folders, and how to avoid using up too much hard-drive space.
Boy oh boy, with 4 cute kiddos, 5 pets, a horse and a MILLION pics, do I EVER need this article. LOL
I know you'll find it helpful too.
Read on-- and "Thanks HP for another great educational tutorial!"
Be sure to let us know what you think of this article. AND: What are your Digi photo storage and retrieval tips??
Answer below in the comments section, providing us with ANY digi photo tip, and I will send a fun Ribbon RAK by mail to a randomly selected Sisterhood of Scrap commenter! And of course, Deanne, Carla and Susan can play, as can our international Blog followers!
Have a super Foto Friday girls!
Off I go in search of more cooooffffeeeeee!
