SKETCH Saturday-May 31-RHEA MARRIOTT

Hi everyone!!!
Hope you are having a super Saturday!!!
Our featured sketch artist this week is RHEA MARRIOTT!!

Here's a little about her:
~~~
Hello my name is Rhea Marriott I am a SAHM with two boys, Dumitru 3.5 and Antoni 5.5 who are the main subjects of my pages. I also have hundreds of pictures from my trip to Romania so you may see layouts with Romanian language in place of English on some of my Layouts. I also enjoy reading and traveling. I have been scrapbooking since 2002 and truly found " My Style" in 2005. I enjoy working with a variety of different products.
I often create a sketch when I want to scrap but have no inspiration. A simple sketch will often give me the inspiration I need to get started.
You can find my sketches at
Sassy Sketches and My blog at The Sassy Corner.
I am also co-owner of Savvy n Sassy, we are a online Canadian scrapbooking and ribbon store. We specialize in monthly ribbon kits. We have 4 different kit each month, Two of which co-ordinate with pattern papers. We have a great Forum with tons of awesome ladies, lots of fantastic inspiration from our design Team. Be sure to check out The SnS Blog at Savvy n Sassy Blog.
~~~
And you can find one of her great sketches HERE! Take a look at her layout sample as well! Aren't they wonderful!

Thanks so much, Rhea! And don't forget ladies, if you try Rhea's sketch let us know!!!

FOTO Friday - May 30th

There's an old Yiddish proverb that says, "The eyes are the mirror of the soul."

What do you see when you look into your child's eyes? your lover's eyes? Your parents' eyes? What do others see in YOUR eyes?

For today's challenge, let's see some photos of eyes.... let us see into your soul.

If you post to your blog, leave a comment so we can visit.

Let's learn about Karen!

Describe your scrap space. Do you like/dislike it? Right now, I have a corner of our basement. I have a fair amount of space but the light isn’t great and I do feel crowded. Eventually, the nursery will become my scrapbook room. Is it bad that I want my son to move to his big boy room so I can claim that space? *LOL*

What are your favourite colours to scrapbook with? I use blue a LOT – partly because I have sons but mostly because it’s my fav color family. I love royal blues, turquoises, and teals in particular. I also love combining blue with brown.

Do you enjoy other crafts and/or hobbies? I have dabbled in needle point and cross stitch. And I have rediscovered "adult" coloring books. I also love taking pictures and reading

What scrapbook magazines do you read? I have subscriptions to Creating Keepsakes and Making Memories. I also really like Scrapbooks, Etc.

How thick is your cardstock and paper stash? I am a paper addict so it’s probably at least a couple feet. My 30 slot rack is full and I have a 12x12 cart full as well

Are you an organized or messy scrapper? Neither. I am organized before and after but messy in the middle :-)

Anything else you want to share? I am so honoured to be a Sister this month. I really love that there is this whole online community of people who understand my obsession and who share their work and talents.

WEB Wednesday - May 28/08

Our Sister, Karen shares a few of her favorite websites with us this morning! Here's what she says!

I really like the Scrapfriends Scrap Friends website. The team there regularly provides reviews of different products, the members are very friendly, and the gallery is full of great layouts.

I also really enjoy
Lain Ehmann's blog and her podcasts at Scrap Happy . She does a weekly 30-minute layout challenge and her podcasts include interviews, kit reviews, general updates, and the ever-popular prizes.

Finally,
Kristina Werner's blog is full of beautiful cards, great videos, and lots of inspiration. While I am not a card-maker, I love soaking in Kristina's technique tips, sense of color, and clean style.

Thanks so much Karen for sharing these fabulous sites with us!

TEACHING Tuesday - May 27th

Karen sent us today's post:

"One of my favorite techniques to add a bit of pop to my layout is to cut floral motifs from my patterned paper and create layered "flowers" out of them. I cut out several in varying sizes and then layer them with pop dots and often outline or embellish with my Sakura Gelly Roll Stardust clear pen and rhinestones."

Thanks, Karen!

SISTER Sunday - May 25th

Please help us welcome our Sister of the Week --
Karen Ordway!!

Tell us about your family: I have been married for 7 years to Joe- who shakes his head at the size of my stash but likes the end result- scrapbook layouts galore!

How/Why did you start scrapbooking? My sister hosted a CM party and then a few college girlfriends, my sister, and I started having monthly potluck crops.

How long have you been scrapbooking? 10 years

What is it about scrapbooking that you really love? I love preserving photos and stories; but, I also just love having the creative outlet – esp since my job is very analytical.

How many hours a week do you scrapbook? 2-7

How long does it take you to complete a layout? Anywhere between 30 minutes to 2 hours

Where do you get your inspiration? Mostly from the pics I scrap. While I visit a ton of blogs and subscribe to CK and MM magazines, I don’t save layouts or refer to sketches often. I always thing I will scraplift some LO that I love but have never actually consciously done so :P I do sometimes get inspired by a friend’s LO at a crop and lift some aspect of it.

Here is Karen's layout for Challenge 55 - scrap those silly photos :-)

SKETCH Saturday-May 24th-HEATHER SCOTT

Happy Saturday, everyone!! Our sketch artist today is HEATHER SCOTT!

Here's a little about Heather:

~~~
I am Heather Scott – from Manhattan Kansas. I was born and raised in Ohio, and transplanted to Kansas by the Air Force while I was active duty as a weather person – yup Weather by Heather! J I have 3 kids and a wonderful hubby. I stay at home with my youngest who starts kindergarten this fall!
I have been stamping for 13 years and started scrapping about 3 years ago. I am a demonstrator with The Angel Company and love my “job” – if you can call it that! I LOVE to make cards, mini books and gift items with my stamping and scrapping supplies. My Favorites include Matchmaker papers, Palette and Versamagic inks, ANY Colluzzle templates and of course my SCOR-pal and Bind It all.
I have been published with my cards in Stampers Sampler, Rubber Stamper and Stamping Arts and Crafts many times, and have been in every TAC idea book since I started as an angel. I am SO proud to have had pictures of my 2 youngest kids featured on the cover of the 2006-07 Idea book. I teach classes, hold crops and do FUNshops in the NE Kansas area and at our local craft store.
I have a blog I update several times a week with cards, pages, mini books and gift ideas- so check it out for more inspiration at http://www.oz-somestamps.com . If you like Sketches – I have a card sketch every Monday!
I hope the sketch inspires you!
Have a specTACular day!
Here are Heather's sketch and layout sample! Awesome stuff!!! Thanks so much Heather!
If you use Heather's sketch as inspiration, let us know! We'd love to see it!!!
FOTO Friday - May 23/08
Ok, So I know it's not really BEACH weather where I am yet, but I've been thinking today about how nice it would be to be on a beach right about now!!
And if you are on the beach, what better way to remember that moment then with photos!!
So...
here's a site I found with some great tips on how to take those beach photos!
Digital Photography school
So go...grab your camera...and head off to the beach!!
(I'll be along sometime in July!!) lol
About Shannon.....
What are your favourite colours to scrapbook with? Brown is definitely a favourite form. Brown mixed with anything! I also tend to be drawn to aqua blues, pinks... ah heck,I love all colours! (Just not purple! shhh!).
Do you enjoy other crafts and/or hobbies? My other hobbies are sewing and beading. I don't do them near as much as scrapping though.
What scrapbook magazines do you read? Not many I have to admit. When I do read them, it's Scrapbooks Etc. and Papercrafts.
How thick is your cardstock and paper stash? Hmmm... if I put it all together, maybe a foot or two?? I really don't keep a lot of cardstock, and my patterned paper collection is pretty much under control I think. Flowers and ribbon? That's a WHOLE other story!!
Are you an organized or messy scrapper? Definitely organized!
Anything else you want to share? I don't know how all of you feel, but when I scrapbook it's the 'process' of it I enjoy the most. I love the idea that I'm creating something great for my children and future generations, but even if they never spend more then a day looking at my albums... it's still okay with me, because through the 'creating' I have gained something for myself. It's therapeutic, relaxing and rejuvenating, AND, the more time I get to spend creating, the better wife and mother I am!
Favorite Snack: Chocolate M&M's or cheese and crackers
Favorite Drink: lately it seems to be Ice Tea
Favorite Paper: Scenic Route
Favorite Technique: Ink
Favorite Embellishment: Ribbon
Favorite Scrap Tool: AMM piercing tool
Favorite Adhesive: my ATG gun!!
TEXT Thursday - May 22nd
We asked Shannon to describer her scrap space:
Describe your scrap space. Do you like/dislike it? "I really LOVE my scrap space. I am fortunate enough to have a room all to myself to create in. It's painted a light blue colour, and is nice and bright. My husband helped me make a counter to work at, as I tend to stand up a lot when scrapping. There is LOTS of storage, and all my favourite little knickknacks and things are around me. It truly is 'my space'."
How about you?? What's your space look like? Write a blog post sharing your space with us :-) Post a comment so we can come visit!
